A couple of days ago I posted a photo of a paper succulent I created in my social media. And I got so many requests for a video on how I made it. I used the Succulent Bigz die.
This is a die designed by Sizzix UK for their Chapter 2 release. You can see a video with a close-up look on that release HERE. I have links below on where you can find it and links to other similar Sizzix designs available worldwide.
The die cuts out 4 different sizes of clover shaped leaves. I used green cardstock from the Sizzix Accessory A4 Cardstock pack. But you can use other colors too, such as teals, light greens etc. You can also make this out of felt!
You can be creative with this die and cut out as many of the leaves as you like. The more layers you add the bigger and fuller your succulent will look. If you want to create an arrangement of succulents for decoration then a good idea is to vary their sizes and colors for a more pleasing look.
It look so real when you look at it from far even I get confused that I made it! I placed it on a little pot and it now decorated my craft room! Adorable isn’t it?!
To get this realistic look I did some paper sculpting with my Sizzix – Paper Sculpting Kit ( SBC | SSS | CST ). I also inked up the edges with Distress Oxide – Seedless Preserves( SBC | SSS | CST ). You can of course use any ink that you have on hand in a similar color.
Then all you have to do is grab your glue gun and start stacking the cut out layers one on top of the other.
