One of the most common questions that I get is what are the must have supplies for art journaling. I haven’t been answering this question for a long time and mainly because art journaling is such a personal way to express your creativity. I like acrylics but maybe you like watercoloring or chalks! I like stamping but maybe you like drawing! I like having a theme but maybe you like to let go and be free and random with color!
But I get this question like a hundred times a week!
So after popular demand I decided to share what works for me and what are my go to supplies these days.
However please keep in mind that art journaling is all about creating something for your self and you can use whatever you have on hand. Just be creative, there is no right or wrong.

Vicky, thank you so much for this very information, I was having difficulty with selection of gel mediums and embossing/texture paste, but through this and you kindly answering my youtube questions, I have finally been able to purchase the items I need to get where I am going with my art journal. I’m glad you made a video about your supplies. the items I was most curious about, however, I didn’t see… the tape that you only dab onto a flower and then it sticks to the ‘what a beautiful day’ card (for instance), and the other types of glues and sticky tapes. that would be helpful even to put on the end of your supply list. with the sped up camera, it almost seems magical that you grab something and it sticks. I can’t stop the motion to get a clear view of what it is you’re using.
The ones that you mention are not my “essential” ones and that is why I did not mention them. But I think you are mentioning the “glue dots”, they really do work like magic!! LOL!!
Hi Vicky! I love your videos and your designs, you inspired me to start art journaling myself and this video was a big help. I was wondering, I’ve seen you use a lot of different types of glues and adhesives could you do a video or a blog explaining the different types and what they’re best for? I’m just starting out and I hadn’t realized there were so many different types of adhesives!
