Altenew metallic watercolor set

Welcome to a fun blog hop! Altenew has just released a new metallic watercolor set and we celebrate with an inspirational blog hop and lots of giveaways.

The new watercolor set comes in a convenient tin case, that holds 14 pans. All the colors are metallic and vibrant and show beautifully on light as well as dark cardstock. It comes with two lids that you can use as a palette to mix your colors and it has a space to store a brush.

snowflake card

For this card I worked on white watercolor paper and applied two colors from the set. I went with the cool tones of green (jade and prasiolite) in an ombre effect. Super easy to make with no crazy techniques and it created a lovely base for my focal point. The snowflake is from the Layered Snowflakes Die Set( ALTN | SBC ) set and the sentiment is from the Hello Winter Die Set( ALTN | SBC | SSS )

flower card

For this card I used the Rose Bouquet Stencil( ALTN | SBC | SSS ) stencil over black cardstock. This is not watercolor paper but if you don’t use too much water you are good to go. Another advantage of using less water in this card was that I could control the paint better so it didn’t go under the stencil as I was applying it. Even if it did in some areas it really added to the whole look which is a loose flower watercolor painting.

Wonderful cards and gorgeous metallic paint. I can’t get over how easy you made it look to paint in a stencil and have the result work. So much good information, such a welcoming new medium variation to play with.
