Today I am sharing 3 fun ways on how you can use your watercolor brushes. Of course you can stamp and color your images but let’s see 3 other ways you can use them …coloring outside the lines!
Altenew has released a new watercolor brush set that I am showcasing today. It’s called Tropical Fiesta and it comes with 10 colors. The set has a complete range of all the colors of the rainbow so it’s a great set to start with. And if you already have their other two sets then it’s a great addition to the current palette.
We celebrate this release with an inspirational blog hop and lots of giveaways. If you want to start the hop from the beginning please visit Altenew Card Blog.

For this card I used the Bold Bunch Stamp Set( ALTN | SBC | SSS ) and 4 brushes from the set. For the green leaves I used Lime and Sweet Leaf and for the flowers I used Fresh Lemon and Sunkissed. I apply the watercolor on the clear stamp, spray with water and then stamp. The result is a water colored looking background with no effort at all.
The sentiment is from the Script Words Die Set( ALTN | SBC | SSS ).I finished off the card with a few nuvo drops at the center of the flowers.
For this card I used Lime and Turquoise on a stamping block, Sprayed with water and stamped with that on watercolor paper. I got an instant water colored background … super easy to do… no watercolor skills required! Then I used the same technique as in the first card to stamp my flower.
The colors I used for the flower are Purple Wine, Lime and Sweet Leaf. The flower and the sentiment are from the Lavender Bud Stamp Set( ALTN | SBC | SSS ). It’s a little stamp set that is inexpensive but has everything you need to make lovely cards.
Finally for my third card I used again my watercolor brushes on stamps. This time though I sprayed lots of water on top of them and used my Mini MISTI ( SBC | ALTN | SSS ) to do the stamping. If you have lots of water on top of your stamps and force the door of your MISTI to close with speed then you get splashes! I just love the look, so artistic and perfect card for teenagers! Check the video tutorial for the technique.
The circle stamps and the sentiment are from the Trendy Circles Stamp Set ( ALTN | SBC | SSS ). The colors of watercolor brushes that I used here are Lime, Turquoise and Desert Night.

Big thumbs up for these cards. It is so funny, but the tiny little Lavender Bud is my favorite…and the card with the Splats…LOL….I really love these new watercolor marker colors….everyone is making such beautiful cards. Thank you Vicky for always giving us such pretty samples.
And thank you also for fixing the page so that it would load on an IPad…it is appreciated. Big hugs!
Gorgeous cards that really show off the vibrant new colors. You have shown us a great, easy watercolor technique.
Such pretty cards Vicky! I’ve followed you on another stamp site also. Thanks for sharing these sweet cards with us.
Love the striking black and white striped background and the jaunty way you placed the watercolour panel. Love the technique for the circles it was very clever, looks quite achievable but we shall see, must remember to use lots of water. The flowers looked great too especially the lavender sprig. Thanks for the great inspiration.
Wonderful cards! Love all three of them.
Great coloring techniques.

I love all of your cards! I want to thank you for sharing and doing the video. I plan on purchasing the watercolor brushes, but now I also plan on purchasing the “trendy circles” stamp set. I didn’t know I could do splatters that way as well! Thank you for teaching me!

Thanks, Vicky, for sharing the techniques – I love the results. I think I’ll have to try out the circles with the kindergarten children. I am sure they will have huge fun making the cards! The new palette colours are gorgeous. For me, the best thing about watercolours is the range you get from a few colours.
The intensity of these colors is amazing.

Yet another very helpful video, invested in a small set of similar markers at Christmas and haven’t really known what to do with them. So this was a fantastic source of inspiration especially since mothers day is coming up and its always nice to get new ideas.

Love the card with the splotches. So many
times my pens decide to burp (all over my
page). that hasn’t happened with the
set of Altenew brushes yet – hopefully
won’t ever. The orange flowers are
gorgeous. Great cards.
