Today I am back with a sepia card! I am going to show you how to get this vintage look by using distress oxide inks and how to color your images looking sepia with your alcohol markers.
For my focal points such as the hot air balloon, the clouds and the banner I used the “Across the Miles” ( SBC | SSS | BLT ) stamp set by Waffle Flower. And although it looks as if it’s made for creating cute and bright cards, here is how it can work even for vintage looking ones!
For getting that vintage look I used lots of Distress Oxides Ink in “Vintage Photo” ( SBC | SSS | BLT ) and I used 3 specific colors of my alcohol markers to color all the images. A tip on getting this sepia look when coloring is to work on kraft colored cardstock. I used Neenah “desert storm” Paper ( SSS ) which does not bleed when you work on it with alcohol markers.

I just love this card, Vicky. Thank you so much for all the tips! I have a friend who’s turning 80 (a guy) soon and I want to make a special card for him. Watching your video gave me some creative and different ideas on doing a masculine card for someone turning 80. So glad to know I can use the “old fashioned”(!!) distress vintage photo ink for this as I don’t have any of the oxide inks yet.. THANK YOU!!!!! I don’t have alcohol markers (yet!) so I’m going to play with using prisma pencils and see what the look might produce. Hmmmm.

Beautiful card and one I intend to re-create with Distress inks (no oxides in my stash). I would love to know what you think of the Nuvo shimmer pen. My Wink of Stella is almost dry and it looks like the Nuvo pen has more shimmer.

Vintage is usually not my thing but I love this card! That background paper is awesome. I wish it wasn’t discontinued! I think it was so creative to bring in the blue on the inside piece, it really makes it pop. All around awesome card.
