art journal distress oxide

After popular demand today I am back with an art journal!

But what is exciting is that I finally got to play with those hipster guys! I fell in love with this stamp set the moment Tim revealed it back in January. And there is no better combination that these guys and the new distress oxide inks.

I am in love with that goat! Look at that face!!!! LOL!!!!

I hope you can see all that amazing detail I was able to achieve in my background by using my oxide distress inks and various techniques. That oxidized look is just awesome and I love that chalky finish that they give you.

I also used the new alphabet foam cling stamps, and they are a dream to work with on an art journal. Just because they are made out of foam you can squeeze them and get great impressions despite the bulky book.

I am also demonstrating a great way to use your distress inks to color images, just like I did with my hipsters here!

  3. Well, Vicky, it certainly was worth the wait for your latest art journal layout. Thank you so much for showing us how to use the new oxyides by Ranger. I’ve had them for weeks but have been afraid to try them. And, you couldn’t have chosen a more perfect layout for your demo! I can imagine your laughter as these “guys” came to life….I know people who actually look just like each one of them!!! Your video has given me the courage to break open the package and give them a try! Thank you so much for sharing and we all look forward to more art journal layouts from you!

  4. Frankly, I didn’t get why everyone was raving about the hipster stamps. After seeing what you’ve done with them, I’m sold! I love watching your process and the finished pages are amazing. With all that work you did, my favorite part is that you left the goat’s ears loose. Thanks for another fabulous video, Vicky!

  5. What a great page!!! LOVE the quote and how everything came together. Haven’t gotten into using the oxide inks yet, but I love the chalky look of them and how them seem to be “no-fail”. I appreciate how you share what you do and why (how to bring everything together in harmony). Very helpful to me. I too am glad to hear that you’ll be sharing more art journal (and maybe other — like canvas?) videos. I like the card videos you produce and I also really appreciate your sharing of other artistic projects you do. Not only very inspiring, but encouraging as well. Thank you very much, Vicky, for all the time you put into making the videos to share your process and results. I used to do some video work so I appreciate how much time and effort goes into it … a LOT!

  6. Vicky, I love all your work so much, but this it the best. It just makes me smile. Thank you for sharing you talent with us.

  7. Love this art journal page and your hipsters! Your creativity and talent never fail to amaze and delight me. Thank you again for sharing your time, and for teaching us along the way.

  8. Just brilliant! I absolutely love these guys and this is the best I have seen these stamps used so far! I cannot get enough of your journal page videos and I watch them over and over again.

  9. Yay yay Yay!! I have been waiting for this. Thank you!! Ok.. now I have to watch the video. ???

  10. Well worth the wait! Thank you again. I love how you used the inks, and just how everything came together. You never cease to amaze me. I really want to get the alpha stamps now.. Those looked so good when you stamped them. I really wish I had somewhere I could do art journals.. One day.. One day, I will have a craft room, or at the very least, a table to use for stamping and journaling.. haha Love your work.. Oh right, and I also love how you grew a third hand when you were getting your stamps ready.. That is probably the most amazing thing I have ever seen, and now the mystery is revealed.. You have 3 hands!!! That’s how you do such amazing work!!! Seriously, though.. That was adorable!! ???

    1. Busted! My third hand is revealed! ha ha! thank you Shari for the laugh! My daughter is usually in my craft room playing with my things and she wanted to grab the stamp I was going to work with! When she was little she used to pop her hands in my videos more often… but now she is 11 and she avoids it… I think she didn’t realize her hand was in public view and I didn’t cut this part while video editing because I laughed too!

  11. OMG…..I am totally in love with this layout! I have been looking and looking at these guys in the store, holding off……but now I think I must buy them. It is the monkey that grabs my eye every time! Love the oxide look, and will definitely be trying out your technique very soon. Soooooo glad to have you back sharing some of your amazing journaling ideas with us here, and excited to look forward to seeing them monthly. You rock, Vicky!

  16. Love this! Those hipsters were at the top of my list when I saw Tim’s video! Now they just need to see a little ink. Thanks for the great inspiration!

  17. YEAH! more new art things to buy! I am an art purist so have always slotted ‘stamping’ in the cute crafty category but I am now converted. This was an amazing demo and the result is so fun. I am always looking for an excuse to go to an art store and now I have a good excuse. Thanks Vicky.

  18. I love to watch your art journaling videos over and over. You are such an amazing artist! You have inspired me so much. Thank you for all of your wonderful ideas! Keep them coming.
