And like I promised I will be posting an art journal layout each Sunday. And can you think of a better stamp set to use on an art journal than those crazy birds?!
I had so much fun making this layout and those birds just put a smile on my face. Love how colorful the are!
and although it looks as I spent a lot of hours coloring and blending… I colored each bird in seconds!
The flowers at the bottom of the page where stencils with embossing paste and they add so much texture on the pages! And you will see how easy it is to color them after the embossing paste is dry.

Oh My Goodness Vicky, your art journal page is totally amazing! I love it. I have recently got into distress inks and I use them on everything! I don’t know why I didn’t know how awesome they were a long time ago but I am sure making up for it now. Great job!

I absolutely LOVE your art journal page with the crazy birds 🙂 I have a question though. What is the medium you use, when you “glue” on the birds to the page? I tried Goldens matte medium, but it smeared the distressed ink on the birds.

All the mediums I use each time are listed below the each video on my blog posts or on youtube. Distress ink is water soluble and it will smear. This is natural, not because of the gel medium. Make sure you use a dry brush (no water at all) and do not manipulate the brush with the gel medium over your distress ink too much. Also try micro glaze… it is magical! Watch my latest art journal video to find out what this does.
Such a cute layout…my mom and I had lots of fun yesterday trying to copy your idea….I was wondering how yours stayed shiny so that you could easily wipe away the green and yellow ink when you were coloring the flowers….the ink just stayed on mine. Thanks!
