Can you believe Christmas are over?! I hope you all had fun, celebrating with family and friends.

Now get ready to party on New Year’s Eve! And just because every year during these days I write down my  resolutions (which I know already that I can’t and won’t succeed on half of them … ha!!!) I was inspired to do an art journal page.

So there isn’t a how-to card video today but a how-to art journal page. Hope you don’t mind as I share my journal adventures with you. I will share a new card next year… that’s just next Sunday!

and here are some more photos

Stamping, shading, stenciling, gesso, paints, patterned papers and tons of fun!!!

You can enjoy the video below or at my YouTube channel

Supplies:

I used lots of supplies while making these pages. I tried to list everything but if you see me use something you can’t find below just ask.

Thank you all for joining me today!

Have fun these days and see you all next year!!!!!!

  1. Gorgeous!! I love seeing your process of creating an art journal page.

At some point, you choose the Glue arts gun over the ATG – why? I have the glue arts glue gun and I am having issue with my papers not sticking so well together, so I wonder if maybe I’m doing something wrong.

And another question – what do you do with your brushes after you use the gel medium? do you clean them between each use, or just wait until you are done with the page?

    Happy new year!!

    1. Hi Efrat and happy new year! I changed to another adhesive cause I was out of tape on my ATG gun and I didn’t bother to add a new one at that moment. I know there are different types of adhesive tape for those guns so maybe you should change the brand! Another might work better for you. I had no problems with my scotch ones.

  2. What a fabulous idea, showing us how to create a scrapbook page “Vicky-style”. You used materials, that I have in my stash but didn’t quite know what to do with-now I know-thank you Vicky. I love observing you craft, the ideas just seem to be pouring out of you. Thanks for the inspiration, tipps, ideas etc. Please keep them coming throughout 2013, would you.
Noticed, that your ATG Gun had problems with the glue adhering to the tape roll. HOW do you solve this problem-I have the same with my pink Gun…-
Have a fab. 2013, stay happy, healthy and creative

    1. Hi Gisa and happy new year!
My ATG gun was out of tape that’s why I had to switch to another adhesive. Never had any problems with my ATG guns. I have both of them, pink and yellow since they have different widths and they are my favorite. Thanks for watching.

  3. Vicky, you are amazing! This turned out so beautiful – sure do wish we lived close so you could get me started on this kind of thing! WOW!! Happy New Year, my friend!

  4. WOW, just W-O-W!!!!! This is SUPER gorgeous and has ART written all over it!!!!!!! LOVE your artistic skills… that’s truly what you are besides a crafter!!! What a beautiful journal page!!!!!! I told you, it’s because of you that I’m getting into this. I haven’t advanced much, but I think the more videos you do about it, the more I’ll pick up and practice until I feel confident enough to do more! (: Keep making these videos, Vicky–I LOVE them!!!!!!

P.S. Just noticed the red conversation bubble on your picture “Welcome to my blog!” — LOVE it!

  5. What an awesome page…it’s beautiful! Thank you for all the videos! I really enjoy your videos! Wishing you all the very best in 2013!

  6. Love it!!!!!!!!! I JUST started trying my hand at mixed media canvases and I was thinking of trying a journal for 2013. After seeing your video – I went out to my LSS and bought one!

Thanks for the inspiration as always!!

  7. Fabulous job Vicky! I enjoyed very much all your videos, I’ve learnt a lot watching them, thanks so much! Have a blessed New Year.

  8. WOW, just WOW! Both the page and the video!

Your cards make me want to be a better cardmaker. Now your journal pages make me want to try my hand at an art journal.

Thank you for another year of ideas and inspiration. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for 2013!

P.S. How long did the page take you in real time? Do you plan your page beforehand? Or do you create it as you go along? Or maybe a bit of both? You seem to work so confidently – but maybe it is because the video is sped up? lol 😉

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment!
It must have taken me about three hours, counting breaks to have a snack, chat with my hubby etc. I had the general idea in my head… like creating the sunburst out of christmas papers. But I also had in mind to add gifts and banners which I didn’t! I guess I know how to start and then I go with the flow…
Confidently is a strong word when it comes to art journaling ha ha ha! And yes, speed up and video editing helps a lot to make it look like it !!!! But is sure is fun. Also have in mind that making your surface non porous with gel medium makes it also forgiving. So if I add a color I don’t like I can quickly remove it with baby wipe (and that is not shown on the video!!! ) 😉 LOL!

  9. Vicky, this is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! Every tiny detail, so lovingly cared for! I kept thinking, “WOW, this is so amazing, how did she know that would look even better than it already did by adding this or that?!” Do you know what I mean?! I’ve only tried this sort of mixed media once and it was a disaster, everything I glued with the gel medium turned the color of the ink I used. I wish you would teach online classes!!! Can’t wait to see the ‘blue pages’, and Happy New Year to you as well 🙂

  10. I agree with everyone else, this is a wonderful page! I particulalrly love how you shaded the edge of each piece! So glad you are sharing your art journal. I started one a number of months ago but haven’t gone back to it. However, it is a new years resolution … to create with it! Can’t wait to see more videos from you!!

  11. I had to come watch the video for a 2nd time! If that page were a blown up canvas in a store, I’d buy it and put it on my wall! It’s just amazing! All the details add up to “wow! how’d she do that??” but we get a video to see the magic! I’m seriously loving your art journaling pages!

Thanks for all the smiles and fun and inspiration in 2012 and I’m looking forward to 2013!! I think I’ve been “following” you for the longest in the crafty world and I’m so grateful for your talent and kindness. MDH knows you as “Greece Vicky” now 🙂 And your video music, he recognizes it and knows to leave me alone for a bit so I can drool! Super sized hugs!!!

  12. This video was absolutely fascinating – I could watch it over and over! The end result is gorgeous and I thank you so much for the time you spend sharing your talent. Happy New Year to you too and I look forward to what you will make and share in 2013!!!

  13. Absolutely love your journal pages! Thanks so much for taking the time to video tape, so we can all see how it’s done. Keep up the great work! And, keep the videos coming!

  14. Incredible page Vicky. LOVE the added depth with the markers and geso highlights!
Can’t wait to see what you do with the BLUE pages:)
Thanks for showing the video, There is nothing like seeing a page coming to life:)

  15. As always, Vicky, you do NOT disappoint! I love your choice of colors and mediums. I have checked your supply list more than once to purchase some of the supplies you’ve used.

Thank you so much for all the inspiration you share. It’s a pleasure watching your videos and the snappy music just makes me want to get up and dance! :o)

    Happy New Year!
    Merilee

  16. From start to finish I was totally amazed by watching this project unfold!! You’ve completely inspired me once again, Vicky! Beautiful art work and a very entertaining video….hurry and do another one !!

  17. I copied this page as my very first art journal page letter for letter so to speak just to learn how
and instead of resolutions I used “RULES ARE GREAT TO MAKE BUT GREAT TO BREAK” as I never make resolutions ha ha
I think it came out quite well thanks for the help

  18. Hi Vicky, I just came across your YouTube channel and I just wanted to say that your work beautiful and so much fun! The best part of it is, that I still got a bunch of your videos to watch …
