Welcome to another Sunday how-to video!

Today I am not sharing a card, I decided to make a shadow box instead. You can easily turn your card designs into shadow boxes to decorate your house or hand them out as gifts. This was actually made as a ‘thank you’ gift for one of my son’s pre-school teachers.

Here is a closer look to the main image

I used the RIBBA shadow box by IKEA, die cutting, stamping, patterned paper and lots of distressing . You can enjoy the video below or at my YouTube channel.

Hope you had fun and got inspired. Let me know if you like the idea and want to see more shadow boxes.

Have a fun day,

Vicky

  1. Whoaaa! What an adorable project!
    I really love it!
Your son’s teacher will be very happy!
Thinking about buying a Cuttlebug … and now I saw this …
definitely buying one in the near future!
Thanks for the inspiration! (and the great video)

  2. Vicky, I ADORE this! I was going to make a comment on how I liked that you inked a patterned paper, then watched the video to see that you MADE that paper! Love the way you used the dots and text! Another wonderful happy creation from you – thanks!

  3. At first when you said you weren’t making a card I said “OH NO!” But then I got to watching (a bit skeptical at first, I might add…) and LOVE IT! This is so stinkin’ cute!!! Love all the randomness…the cute flowers. BTW, thanks for the tip on using glue dots. I’ve been using wet adhesive and sometimes it’s kind of hard to work with!

    Thanks again!!!

    1. Lol loved the “oh no” reaction! Actually this could be easily turned into a card design. Just a bit of change on the size and add them on a card base. Thanks for visiting and i am glad you like it.

  4. Isn’t this darling?!! I love it, Vicky! It turned out so perfect! LOVE all the wonderful, sweet details you added! So glad you share videos with us – otherwise we would never know all the fun, little things you do! Hugs! 🙂

  5. I already posted on youtube but I have to say it here also: That is an amazing creation! thank you for continuing to share your projects with us….they’re so VERY inspiring! Lucky teacher to receive this beauty!

PS: I, too, am, wrestling aobut whether to buy a Cuttlebug or a Big Shot, since I have a cricut (but I don’t really know all that much about using it). I’m still very much a novice to this and can’t come NEAR this level of ability yet. I think you make it look far too easy! TFS

  6. shoot, I forgot to ask my question: can you list the distress ink colors you used for the sky and grass and other inking? I tried to catch them all in the video but don’t think I quite got them. your color choices were perfect, and I don’t own any of those except a couple brown/tan ones. Thanks!

    1. Thank you Penny, you are so sweet! I always use tumbled glsss and broken china on my skies. If i want them to be even darker I then add a bit of faded jeans, but i havent in this project. For the grass i use two shades forest moss and shabby shutters. If you are thinking of getting some basic colors of distress inks do get spiced marmalade ( perfect orange) and fired brick ( great red).
Hope this helps! Thanks for visiting.
